Greenwich Academy

Projects for 2011-12:The Greenwich team will explore how online communication affects the way students, independent of adult input, knowingly create their identities by and through technological media. Working with focus groups, alumnae, surveys, and research literature the School will better understand this phenomenon and respond to its impact on the girls’ lives in school.

The Haverford School

Projects for 2011-2012: The Upper School team will be making a qualitative examination of leadership in the upper school.  The Middle School team will continue to focus on bullying and programs that have the potential to support the development of tolerance.The Lower School team will investigate the 5th grade advisory program, seeking to understand student experiences in this program.

Lawrenceville School

Projects for 2011-12: Given that Lawrenceville aims to celebrate diversity, what pressures exist for students to conform or hide their identities at school?  In what areas do students feel these pressures the most, where do these pressures come from, how do they operate, and who is especially affected by them?

Riverdale Country School

Projects for 2011-12: How does the Riverdale Country School influence 6 grade boys’ identity? In what ways does body image shape boys’ experience at Riverdale? How does Riverdale foster boys’ self-awareness? What are the dynamics of 6th grade boys’ friendships and social interactions at Riverdale?

The Shipley School

Projects for 2011-12: The team will be starting new projects this year on the topics of social boundaries and the advisory program.  In addition, the group will continue their work on why students sit where they sit in the cafeteria.  After completing the study and data analysis last year, they intend to begin this year thinking about how to share the results with the school community and how to implement some sort of action plan from the data.

University School

Projects for 2011-12: The Middle School will look at the transition from middle to upper school for African-American boys.  The Upper School will investigate the idea of cheating in school -- how do buys define cheating? Why do boys cheat?  How does cheating impact school culture?

Miss Porter's School

Projects for 2011-12: The team will be moving toward action steps on the work they did in 2010-11 about the girls' lack of confidence about going into the coed world.  They will also be beginning a new project -- using their survey data in combination with CASL data -- about why academics are such a source of stress for the girls.
